FAQs
1. What is Starlink, and how fast is the internet?
Starlink brings high-speed internet to your home using satellites. Because the signal comes from space, it reaches many parts of Ghana where cables cannot reach. It works perfectly for streaming, video calls, and remote work without the headache of slow speeds.
While your location affects signal, most users enjoy speeds over 100 Mbps. You can pick up a Starlink kit at Electromart and get online fast. It is a huge relief to have a reliable connection that works, no matter where you live.
2. Is Starlink available in Ghana, and how do I subscribe?
Yes. Starlink is available in Ghana. You can purchase the hardware through Electromart – an authorised retailer with showrooms in cities like Accra (Achimota), or directly via the Starlink website. Sometimes, due to high demand, users might need to pre-order a device. Subscriptions can be activated via the Starlink App for Android devices and iPhones. The local regulatory authority in Ghana requires customers in Ghana to register with Starlink to receive service.
3. How do I install Starlink at my home or the office?
Download the Starlink app to find a spot with a clear view of the sky. Once you pick a space away from trees or tall buildings, plug the dish into power. The system takes a few minutes to find the satellites and start your internet.
Let the dish move on its own to find a signal, never force it by hand. If your model needs a nudge, the app will show you exactly where to point it. Once you connect your phone, the system handles any updates automatically.
4. Will Starlink work in all weather conditions?
Yes, for the most part. The dish is built tough, so it handles Ghana’s intense heat and the thick dust of the Harmattan season without breaking a sweat. Heavy rain hitting the hardware won’t damage it either. You will, however, notice a dip in your internet speed when a massive downpour hits. Keep in mind that being weatherproof has its limits. The dish can take a beating from the rain, but it will ruin the electronics if it gets completely submerged in a deep flood. Lightning is another big risk. A direct hit or a sudden power surge can fry your equipment instantly. To keep it safe, you should always use a good surge protector. When the weather gets really bad, the safest bet is to simply pull the plug out of the wall.
5. What does Starlink cost in Ghana?
The Starlink standard is priced at GH₵ 4,200, and the Starlink Mini costs GH₵ 2,100. Once you have the kit, you choose a monthly plan to stay connected: Residential Lite (GH₵ 500/month): Great for everyday browsing and social media. Standard Residential (GH₵ 770/month): Best for families and heavy streaming. Check the Electromart website or chat with our sales team for the latest rates in Cedis. It feels good to pick a plan that fits your budget and finally enjoy internet that just works.
